I do this work because I see my reflection in you...
I also understand that the kind of growth that you want to achieve is meaningful and all-encompassing. The kind of growth that aligns with your soul’s passion and higher power. And a woman who desires that kind of growth requires a certain kind of spirit-anchored support & mentorship.
Hello and welcome! My name is Nichomi and I am a licensed marriage & family therapist (LMFT 100789), spiritual mentor, and the founder of SolCentered Therapy. A holistic wellness practice dedicated to providing professional, entrepreneurial, creative, and influential women of color confidential and experienced counseling & coaching services.
If you're looking for a traditional counselor, you won't find her here. My clients appreciate me for my empathy, humor, compassion and keen sensibilities to "tell it like it is". My expertise has been shaped by my own lived experience and refined through my education, commitment to continued professional development, and over a decade of business leadership and clinical experience. As an open and non-judgmental professional, a woman of color, and an ally, I work to foster a safe and accepting environment that acknowledges the beauty of our diversity and the power of Spirit.
Our Work Together is Oriented in These Core Values...
"Working with Nichomi has been nothing short of amazing! Not only has she helped me make some tough decisions around my business; specifically as it relates to my niche & how I am spending my time. She has also helped me recognize how resistance shows up in my life & how that resistance affects my ability to make necessary decisions regarding the growth of my business." - Robin K
Behavioral HealthCare Experience
My professional career in behavioral healthcare has been a rewarding one. In addition to my residential and outpatient treatment experience as a therapist and eventually clinical director in the field of eating and co-occurring disorders. I have also held positions in senior leadership, that required me to oversee the successful operations of residential and outpatient treatment programs across the country. I have been honored to mentor and lead teams as few as 30 to 300. My passion for helping individuals become healthier and happier versions of themselves was established during my clinical training (years ago) at the Atlanta Center For Eating Disorders (ACE), where I had the privilege of practicing under the supervision of Drs. Rick Kilmer & Linda Buchanan. Under the umbrella of eating disorder treatment and over the years, I have worked with kids, teens, young adults, adults, mature adults, couples and families challenged by the devastating effects associated with an eating disorder. With the exception of inpatient treatment, I have provided clinical services in all levels of care and understand the unique obstacles associated with healing.
I have been invited to speak throughout the state on various topics. Including the unique factors surrounding eating disorder symptoms, stigma, education and care in communities of color. My clinical expertise has afforded me several opportunities to appear on the Dr. Phil Show as a guest expert regarding youth in need of support and behavioral correction. I am also a professor in the Graduate Scool of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University.
I am also a certified Body Positive facilitator, trauma trained clinician, and advocate for increasing mental health literacy in schools and disenfranchised communities. I have developed a mental health basics curriculum in both English and Spanish. This tool allows non-profit organizations who desire to better provide mental health education from a more informed position to do just that.
